LIVERPOOL Pride has announced a date for this year’s gay, lesbian and bisexual festival. Organisers said the city’s second colourful festival will take place on Saturday, August 6.

While Government funding is yet to be agreed they said there were “positive noises” from Liverpool city council. James Davies, Liverpool Pride trustee director, said: “We had a really successful day last year. We are planning for this year’s festival to go ahead and to be free.

“Nothing has been agreed yet in terms of funding from the council but we are working with commercial sponsors to raise money to fund it.”
Liverpool’s first Pride Festival saw 21,000 people flocking to specially themed art exhibitions, sports tournaments and a rainbow circus in the city centre.
